I see my world shattered
It’s broken into pieces
I let my head fall
I let them feel the familiar touch of my hands
The world is coming to an end
A single tear slides down my cheek
I let it fall, not ashamed of it
It's followed by many others
The world seems distant now
My eyes blurred by my tears
I can't see anyone
But I know they are there
The world I’ve loved is gone
Taking a piece of my heart with it
I felt it rip away
Leaving a gaping hole
I lift my face from my hands
My clothes are wet with tears
Other people are crying too
Suddenly I'm not alone
People are everywhere
Gathered in clusters
I can’t see their faces
Their hands are dripping with their tears
I never felt so shattered
My tears seem to be coming harder
The people are gone again
Disappeared behind my eyelids
They open one last time
In front of me the world splits
What’s left of my heart split with it
Left heartless, and in the dark
I was gently slipping away with the world
Now I’m just an empty shell
I let the world consume me
I didn’t fight it
I open my heart to Earth
I felt a Warm embrace
My heart was being sewn back together
My heart was whole but I was not
I was something better
My heart became the soul of the Earth
I was no longer broken or shattered
My heart was again filled with happiness
My inspiration for this poem:
This poem is about “Sphere no.5” by Arnaldo Pomodoro, he is an Italian Sculptor. The poem I wrote is about a sculpture he made called “Sphere,” It reminded me of a broken earth which is when the poem is about. The sculpture is a big broken sphere with a small broken sphere in the middle; this is why in the third last stanza of the poem I talked about how the Earth consumed the girl’s heart. And now her heart is the heart of the world. When Arnaldo made this peace He said that Earth was the inner ball and the outer ball is Christianity. The cracks in them represented how the religion is bigger than Earth. This piece can mean many things from religions to the heart, but this piece speaks to many people.
