When the Last Leaf Falls

I sense a change in the air
The crisp air rushes down my thoat
It sends a shivery sensation through my body
When I exhale I can see it

There is a rush of joy that fills me
My fingers and toes numb from the cold
Snow lines the ends of my pants
My hair blows from the slight breeze around me

Branches from trees are covered in snow
All animals are absent from view
But they are all there
Shielding themselves from the clod

It is completely silent
But there seems to be no absence in sound
The world is at peace with it's self
When the last leaf falls...

Authors note: This poem is about the last day of fall; when the air around you starts to get cold and snow begins to  fall. I wrote about this time of the year because it's my favorite time of the year. I love it when the leaves begin to fall of the trees and the first snowfall. I think this time of the year is magical; everything can be so quite but yet load at the same time....
